Support for JSHint?

Mar 20, 2015 at 3:30 PM
Will there ever be support for JSHint? I find it a bit lame that JSLint doesn't assume jQuery. Seriously? JSHint assumes many more things that are quite obvious. Also, It would be nice if, like the other JSLint.2013 extension for VS, you allowed TODO messages to be output to either the Messages or Task List (instead of only tolerating them. That would be quite handy.

Your extension looks and feels better, but lacks JSHint support and lacks some other cool features that would be nice to have integrated into the VS IDE.

To answer your first question, JSLint.NET will only ever wrap JSLint. But Web Essentials includes support for a range of other linters including JSHint. That may provide what you're looking for.

Assuming jQuery is as simple as adding a global for it. No need to clutter up JSLint with switches for every library when adding known globals is so straight forward. JSLint's limited but understandable set of options is very much by design.

TODO parsing sounds helpful, but not really related to linting per se. Perhaps there is another extension out there that can do that for you?
